Phone Sockets
BT is responsible for the phone line system up until the master phone socket in the house. Beyond that, it is the homeowner who is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance. Since the phone line carries 50 Volts of DC current when idle (that jumps to 75 Volts of AC current when the phone rings), an electrician can work on repairs or extensions to the line within the house.
